The Sherman Library is pleased to start the New Year with the Sherman Historical Society’s Photography Show of their Revolutionary War Reenactment Event held on September 20, 2025. Sponsored by the Great Hollow Photographers Club, photographers were invited to come and record the event. The selected works capture the smoke, spirit, and grit of the reenactment and will be on display at the Sherman Library from January 9, - February 18, 2026. The opening reception will be on Friday January 9, 2026, 6-8pm. The photographs will also be on the Sherman Library website: www.ShermanLibrary.org

On September 20, 2025, the Sherman Historical Society (SHS) brought together reenactors and colonial villagers to reenact what life was like in colonial times and what it was like to fight for independence in 1775. This was also a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the SHS and over 500 people came to enjoy the event. Reenactors from the 5th Connecticut Regiment, Ye Olde Lebanon Towne Militia Co and the 38th (1st Staffordshire) Regiment of Foot and colonial artisans demonstrated battles, cooking, clothing, medical treatment, and more.

The Great Hollow Photographers Club encouraged photographers to come and capture the day’s thunder of musket drills to the quiet artistry of colonial villagers, battles, cooking, clothing, medical treatment, and more. The photographers then submitted their photographs for jurying. The library show consists of a selection of these photographs by twelve photographers: Dee Biglin, Lynne Gomez, Irit Granger, Jane Haslam, Mike Mondaruli, Cindy O’Connor, Helen Anne Ostrosky, Masumi O’Donnell, Roderike Pohl, Sandy Schill, Doris Tomaselli, and Adeline Wolgast. There will also be a portrait book of the individual reenactors created by John and Masumi O’Donnell.
