Spring Tree ID (class & walk) April 30, 10 AM-Noon
At Deer Pond Farm, our flowering trees and shrubs are rich sources of food and shelter for wildlife. Spring is the perfect time to learn about the diversity of subtle and showy flowers of Connecticut’s trees. Join Lori Lichtenauer, CT Forester, and Diane Nizlek, CT Audubon Naturalist, for this seasonal tree ID walk. Starting in the classroom, Lori and Diane will present how to tell tree species apart in the spring using real field specimens of flowers, seeds, and budding leaves. Then, we will head out onto the main campus trails to see these tree identification markers in the field. All experience levels are welcome. https://ctaudubon.org/events/deer-pond-farm/spring-tree-id-class-walk/
