The Gerard-Hill Duo Plays Duke Ellington

Join the Sherman Library as we host the Gerard-Hill Duo Plays Duke Ellington on Friday, February 6th at 1:00 p.m. at the Library. The duo of recognized musicians, Charley Gerard (alto sax) and Jenny Hill (saxophone) will play well-known jazz standards from Duke Ellington.
Charley Gerard is a 2019 recipient of the prestigious New Jazz Works grant from Chamber Music America with the generous support of the Doris Duke Foundation. Gerard founded The Broken Reed Saxophone Quartet in 2002. He is a prolific composer and arranger, he holds a graduate degree in ethnomusicology from Columbia University.
Jenny Hill is a composer, arranger, performer and also leads her own band Liquid Horn, a jazz sextet featuring her own compositions. She has released five CDs of original music.
Jenny has been the recipient of many honors including the 2023 Chamber Music America Performance Plus grant, the 2023 Arts Alive grant from Westchester Arts Council, a National Endowment of the Arts Jazz Studies grant with Joe Lovano, winner in the JAZZIZ Woodwinds on Fire competition, and the Lennie Johnson Outstanding Musician scholarship from Berklee College.
