The Sherman Library Centennial Celebration Reception

Sunday, Nov. 8th 1:00-3:00 p.m.

The Sherman Library will be hosting a Centennial Celebration Reception on Sunday, November 8th, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. Cake and refreshments will be served as attendees enjoy Ten Penny Bounce performing jazz inspired by the greats of the 1920s and 1930s. Guests can explore special displays, add their signatures to the centennial banner, and celebrate this special occasion with friends and neighbors.

This year marks a very special milestone for the Sherman Library as we celebrate 100 years since the Library first opened its doors to the public. The roots of the Sherman Library Association can be traced back to 1901, when a group of Sherman women formed “The Delvers,” which met occasionally to discuss books and current events. This group recognized the community’s need for a public library. In 1926, the Sherman Library became a reality in the town center when the familiar brick Colonial Revival-style building with its gambrel roof opened to the public.

A century later, the Library offers far more than those early founders could have imagined. Today, the Sherman Library provides a large collection of print books and materials, a wide range of digital resources, public computers and printers, Wi-Fi access, and engaging programs for adults and children.

This is a free event. Registration is appreciated but not required. To register or find more information, visit www.shermanlibrary.org.
