Winter Birds at the Feeder Thursday, January 8th at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom

Join the Sherman Library and CT Audubon Society Deer Pond Farm via Zoom on Thursday, January 8th at 7:00pm for “Winter Birds at the Feeder” presented by Lori Lichtenauer of Deer Pond Farm.

Bird feeders can provide a great introduction to birding and can also supply a connection to nature during the cold winter months. During this program, Deer Pond Farm’s avian expert, Lori Lichtenauer, will share tips on how to identify local, winter birds and their behaviors. Attendees will learn about various bird feeders that attract a diverse range of bird species, and how best to support our feathered friends during the winter. Lichtenauer will explain how to best handle uninvited mammalian guests at your feeder (bears, squirrels, and more). Become familiar with the Project FeederWatch from the Cornell Lab of Orinthology and discover how birding can also help contribute to community science projects. If we protect and support where birds live, we all benefit!

This is a free remote program via Zoom. Registration is required. Register online at shermanlibrary.org/registration-dropdown or contact slprograms@biblio.org.
